File Set Up

For best results please follow our guidelines.


FILE FORMAT:
We accept the following file formats TIF, TIFF, JPG, EPS, PNG and PDF.


FILE SIZE:
The maximum file size acceptable for upload is 30MB (megabytes) per file.


RESOLUTION:
All file formats must have a minimum of 300 dpi (dot per inch) resolution. The images designed for the web are done at a low screen resolution of 72 dpi. Print images need to be created at 300 dpi or there will be a substantial drop in the image quality.


COLOR MODE:
All color artwork and/or images must be provided in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color mode.

All black & white artworks and/or images must be provided in grayscale color mode. Heavy black ink might cause smearing.


BLEED:
Please build your press-ready digital files by adding 0 .1" dimension for business cards, postcards, and rackcards. Add 0.125" for all other products.

  • We require ALL files to be built to the full bleed dimension specified for each trim size.
  • We automatically trim 0.05" or 0.0625" off each edge, which will result in the desired trim size
  • Simply add 0.1" or 0.125" to the overall dimension of your digital layout.
  • Example: a 5" x 7" would have a bleed size of 5.1" x 7.1" and a 8.5"x11" flyer would have a bleed size of 8.625"x11.125".

  • What's a bleed?
    It is the portion of the card that will be trimmed off when cut to the final size.

    Why bleed?
    The purpose of a bleed is to continue a color, image or design to the edge of the printed product.

 

 



CROP MARKS:
Please build your press-ready digital files by adding crop marks.  Lines indicating where the paper should be cut to produce the correct size.

FONTS:
a. Fonts must be embedded in PDF files.
b. Fonts must be outlined or converted to paths or curves in EPS files.
c. Some fonts have copyright restrictions and will not embed in PDF Files.
d. Quark Express: Fonts and images must be included with all files submitted. (Mac only)

SAFE ZONE:
All critical elements (text, images, logos, etc.) must be kept at least 0.125" inside the edge. Anything left close to edge may be cut off during trimming.

BORDERS:
Please allow 1/16" cutting space around your card. No borders are recommended, as shifting in the cutting process may make borders appear uneven.

Important Information Regarding
Catalog or Booklet file set up

  • When you select the number of pages for your catalog or booklet this refers to single pages.
  • If you are ordering an 8.5 x 11 catalog with 8 pages, you will have 8 separate one-sided 8.5 x 11 pages.
  • A spread refers to two 8.5 x 11 pages next to each other. An 8 page catalog will have 4 spreads.
    [4 (spreads) x 2 (pages) = 8 single pages]
  • A Signature refers to one spread.
  • If you have 16 separate 8.5 x 11 one-sided pages to print, you would select a 16 page catalog, not an 8 page catalog, since the number of pages refers to actual pages and not spreads.

      

     

    We ask that you send your files as spreads not individual pages, and in position based on cut and fold

    To ensure that we set up the page order correctly, we advise that you email production@quantumbiz.com a low resolution PDF to view prior to commencement of your order. You may email it prior to placing your order, but we ask that you please call Customer Service 512-203-3602 so that you make them aware of your incoming file(s) and in this way our Production Team will look for the email and it will not get lost in email since it won't have an order attached to it.

    The cover and back cover pages are included in the number of pages. The catalogs and booklets are self cover (all pages are the same paper stock).
